Android: Hard Reset (Factory Settings) Proof on rooted Devices
Would be nice to see a feature like this.
Some technical thoughts about it:
With 'adb pull' and 'push' it's possible to install it as system app on rooted Android Phones.
System Apps keep persistent, even on Hard-Reset. But Settings are wiped out on Reset.
If Prey can't find the settings, which are always stored in /data/data/, it contacts the prey Server with it's IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) and downloads saved Settings automatically.
Prey should automaticaly start Tracking and send the User an E-Mail: "Your Android Phone was reseted."
Advantage on rooted Devies: GPS can be enabled without User Intervention. (Due to security settings since Android 1.6)

Maybe they can allow for special functions for rooted android phones through a plugin interface. I'd put all ten of my votes toward support of rooted devices. That's where this app can really sing.
